eCulture Horizons:
From Digitisation to Creating Cultural Experience(s).
Salzburg Research Symposium 2004 | 27.-28. September 2004
University of Salzburg, Institute for legal science, HS 230, Kapitelgasse
4-6
The Salzburg Research eCulture Symposium 2004 aims to cover all aspects from digitising cultural heritage objects to adding value and creating
cultural experiences in and beyond cultural heritage institutions. In
this process, digitisation is an essential first step to unlock the treasure
chest of our cultural memory. The second step is to provide enhanced
access to and new experiences with cultural objects and knowledge. It
is this second step that brings together the cultural institutions, their
collections and knowledge with different user groups. Increasingly, users
expect from cultural heritage institutions ubiquitous access and new
modes of interaction and community.
This eCulture Symposium tries to shed light on future concepts of cultural
experience(s) and how cultural institutions can add value to and serve their
communities by creating such experiences.
